Facial Beauty Tips

I think I was almost 16 years old when I had my fist shave but even then I didn?t really need it. I was getting so frustrated at being one of the only lads remaining in the school that still carried limp strands bum fluff around on the lower chin. These pathetic and immature whiskers looked like the remnants of a cotton wool bud and did nothing to boost the self esteem of this struggling adolescent. I longed for the facial hair of an adult but alas it was not to arrive during those high school years.

The ole goatee beards that are all the rage today were not popular back then, but a good thick mustache was certainly in. In fact, this little tuff of facial hair made some of the students look so grown-up, that is was sometimes difficult to distinguish between them and the teachers.

Anyway, that was then and this is now and how I long for those days of not having to cut the stubble every day. My facial hair grows so quickly now that if I have a social engagement in the evening it?s necessary to shave twice daily. Nevertheless, shaving is a ritual we men have to go through so best make the most of it. Most of us modern day chaps take great pride in our daily ritual of cutting, shearing, and trimming which is usually followed with a process of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing before splashing on a drop of our favourite aftershave. Male grooming, which was frowned upon by our fathers and forefathers, is a necessary evil if we?re to have any chance of impressing the fairer sex.

But just as we men are become more, dare I use the word, effeminate, woman are talking on more masculine rolls in society, and in many cases, appearing more butch with every generation. There?s this one gal at my office that has deservedly gained the nickname of stubble woman, but she?s by no means unique. I mean, what is it with this new-age sisterhood that downs pints of beer, plaster themselves in tattoos, walk around in suits, and allow hairs to grow in places us guys didn?t think woman got hairs!

Stubble woman is a frightening figure and there?s no one man enough in my office that would dare suggest she do something about her facial hair. Maybe these poor bearded women have been struck with some rare condition that makes their facial hair grow in greater quantities than is normal, who knows, but it does seem that more and more of them are sprouting up all the time.

I often wonder what stubble woman thinks as she prepares herself for work in the morning. Whatever it is, she doesn?t seem to give a toss about her facial hair. She doesn?t shave it! She doesn?t she cut it! She doesn?t even attempt to conceal it in some way! What she does do is allow thick black hairs to sprout out of her face at all angles and at all lengths and as wild as they like. I'm beginning to think she?s a guinea pig for some kind of hormonal research program - but listen up lady! That's a fully fledged beard going on there and it's not doing you any favors. It's downright ugly!

I don?t think it?s chauvinistic to say that facial hair on a man has its place and every man has a right to choose whether he will have a beard, a mustache or a goatee. However, facial hair on a woman is, in my opinion, quite unacceptable in our society. And, just as a man must maintain his grooming regimen to remain attractive, women cannot just let a problem like this go and expect it to go unnoticed. I hope you?re reading this stubble woman.

You?ve had a busy week and now it?s time to get what you truly deserve - a spa quality exfoliating treatment. A week?s worth of skin has piled up and started to make your complexion just a little duller than normal, moisturisers don?t seem to do what they used to and you really need to spoil yourself before you resort to a quart of ice-cream.

Banish the gray tint from your skin by exfoliating once a week. Those with oily skin can pull it off twice a week without a hitch. Keep in mind though, that more is not necessarily better - layers of dead skin protect the new skin underneath. Don?t do this everyday. 8 Step Deluxe Treatment

1. So where to start? Before you get wet, use a dry loofah sponge to slough off the really loose skin - don?t scrub, just run it over your skin gently.

2. Get wet (unless you use Coco Luv Chocolate Body Scrub - it?s for use on dry skin).

3. Apply an exfoliant with hands or a cloth, rubbing in a circular motion. Spend some time with this step - the idea here is not just to scrub off the dead skin, but to stimulate circulation as well. (I should note here that the more time you spend scrubbing your behind, the faster you will be able to break up the fatty deposits that cause the appearance of cellulite.)

4. Rough spots deserve a little more attention. Really rough spots, like heels, might need the help of a pumice stone to soften them up.

5. Rinse off thoroughly. Do not use soap.

6. Dry off.

7. Apply an intensive moisturiser head to toe.

8. Wrap up in your favourite bathrobe and snuggle up with a good book and a cup of tea.

So, if your now thinking ?Great, like I have time for all that!? Try this one on for size: The Quickie

So you gotta clean yourself anyway right? Forget the soap - Do a salt glow! Grab a handful of bath salt and add a couple squirts of bath & body oil to it. Now scrub your wet self like a madwoman. This can be a heavy duty scrub (lots of salt, a little oil) or a gentle scrub (lots of oil, a little salt) - it's your choice. Now rinse, dry and taadaa - Your done! Now give yourself a quick second to admire your butter-soft skin.

The five senses play an important role in recognizing the world around us. The sense of touch is primary to our learning process as individuals. Skin has its types and knowing them is vital for proper care of your skin. According to the texture we have varied skin types. They are Normal Skin, Dry skin, Oily skin, Combination skin, and Sensitive skin.

Normal Skin
A perfect balance of oil and moisture contents reflects a fine texture of supple and smooth skin. Normal skin does not develop any spots or blemishes and reflects good health.

Normal skin care
It needs gentle treatment. Use a mild oil based moisturizer to prevent it from getting dry. Even the toner and soap should be mild( baby soap) .

Dry skin
Dry skin seems to reflect lesser moisture and oil content. It has a parched appearance. It is prone to wrinkles and lines and has a tendency to flake easily. It is problematic in cold weather and ages faster than normal or oily skin. This is due to the insufficient sebum from the sebaceous glands.

Dry skin care
Skin vitamins and other supplements could be taken to prevent dry skin. Constant protection is important for dry skin. Wash your face in the morning with a rich creamy cleanser and warm water, rinse in cold water and pat your skin to dry. Use a moisturizer during the day and a good cream at night. Avoid toners that contain alcohol as alcohol based products have a drying effect on the skin.

Oily skin
This skin oozes out with oil due to the over secretion of sebum by the sebaceous glands. The oily surface attracts dirt and dust. Black heads, white heads, spots, pimples are a common feature for those with oily skins.

Oily skin care
Oily skins need a thorough cleansing regularly. Wash your face several times a day with liquid cleanser soap and warm water, rinse in cold water and dry your skin. Use toners and other make up that contain alcohol to help dry the skin. Use of powder minimizes the shine.

Combination skin
Combination is essentially a referral to the two basic extremes of oily and dry. It is called combination because certain areas of the skin is oily where as the rest is dry. On the face it is some times referred to as the T-Zone where the oily parts are the forehead, nose and chin and the dry areas are the rest of the face. Sometimes it is oily T-Zone and a normal skin for the rest.

Combination skin care
Treatment in this case should be according to the area of the skin. Cleansers for combination skins like water based moisturizers, or alpha hydroxy acids and vitamin A retinols are good for combination skins. Apply more of the moisturizer to the dry part and less to the oily part. Make up kits you buy should be the oil absorbing type.

Sensitive skin
Sensitive skin is fine textured. It irritates easily and often gets red and blemished. It is very sensitive to sun, wind, and cold weather. People with this type of skin are allergic to beauty products as well. Rosacea skin is another disorder of the facial skin. It also causes redness of skin and can get worse in extreme case. Meet the skin specialist to get specialized Rosacea skin care for this ailment.

Sensitive skin care
Avoid using skin products with exfoliates. For washing your face, choose products that are hypoallergenic. Choose moisturizers that are fragrance free. In case your hypoallergenic toner or skin products cause irritation discontinue use of that product.

Youthful and radiant is the expression every one dreams of. Facial skin problems can cause dull, dry and flaky complexion that can add years to your face.

Your Perfect Spa

By Unknown

Finding the perfect spa requires much research. There is not just one type of spa. In fact, spas are about as diverse as their customers. In order to find a spa that will fulfill your expectations, decide ahead of time what your goal is. Is it relaxation, rejuvenation, or some form of therapy for a condition or a trouble area you are dealing with? Once you know your expectations, you should familiarize yourself with the different types of spas available to you, what each spa provides, and the amount of time each program takes.

Normally, spas can be classified into four basic categories. The following is a list which also states and defines each category:

1. Fitness: these spas incorporate fitness into the spa routine. Everything from aerobics to sports can be found for people who want to relax and lose weight at the same time. These spas are very therapeutic for active people who enjoy being outdoors, or for those who wish to learn a new activity.

2. Wellness: For people who have certain health issues, licensed health care specialists supervise their clients while first class and clinically effective treatments are administered on the patient's request. The patients vary from those overcoming an operation to those who are trying to quit smoking or drinking.

3. Day Spa: This popular form of spa is used primarily for pampering. These centers are not as expensive as other spas and have a more generalized menu. Most clients come to day spas looking for a few hours of relaxation and beautification. Day spas are great as a preparation for weddings or a formal event where you will need to look your best. They are also great gift ideas for anyone looking for a rejuvenating experience.

4. Holistic: The philosophy of these centers is to treat the body as well as the mind and spirit. Many new techniques are implemented and often include traditions from other cultures such as meditation and Tai Chi. Even the cuisine makes an effort to be fully nourishing.

These few examples are a great way to begin research on your dream spa experience. Along with the desired goal, make sure you know the quality of the center. Be picky on cleanliness and the attitudes of the employees. If these elements are above par with you, you will surely be rewarded with the spa experience beyond your expectations.

Experts say acne facial treatments should begin with the diet and hygienic habits. Then there are over-the-counter drugs available, which have improved over the years and can bring about immediate results in most cases. But these things are successful in ?most cases? and not in all cases. For such exemptions ? people who have experienced allergic reactions to medicines or for those the diet adjustments do not work ? it is advisable to try out homemade acne treatments. Such acne facial treatments are effective and cheap and one does not need the advice of a doctor to try it out.

One of the effective homemade acne facial treatments is cleansing the facial skin regularly using cotton dipped in alcohol. The alcohol not only cleanses the pores, but it also kills the bacteria causing infection. But take care not to over do it as excessive use of alcohol can cause skin irritation or cause the skin to peel off.

For somebody having a heavily oily skin, using oatmeal mask can bring about substantive results. This acne facial treatment makes use of a paste of oatmeal and water, which the person has to apply to his/her face twice a day. Keep the paste there on the face for 15-20 minutes and as the oatmeal paste dries up, it starts absorbing the excess oil from the skin. After removing the mask, rinse well with cold water.

Another successful homemade acne facial treatment is the facial mask made using honey and apples. In this technique, grated apple is mixed with four teaspoon full of honey and the resulting paste is applied on the face for 10 minutes. After removing the mask, rinse the face with warm water. Repeat the procedure twice or thrice a week.

Tomatoes also work wonders for oily skin. Apply mashed and drained tomato on the facial skin for 10 min and rinse well with warm water. For better results, this acne facial treatment must be done everyday at least once.

Caution ? If you have pimples on your face, abstain from pricking it with your finger nails. Such an act could aggravate the conditions further. If any one treatment acne is not working, try out another; but touching and picking at the inflammations will help neither the person nor the medical condition.

Do you have a problem area on your face that you would like to change? Double chin, droopy eyes, jowls, pouches, crows feet or marionette lines? Aging is as sneaky as sun damage and it seems that in a twinkling of an eye, your face can look so different that you might wonder just who is that person staring back at you in the mirror?

Could facial exercise be the answer to the age old question ??Can I maintain a youthful appearance?? Must I spend my children?s inheritance to stave off Mother Nature?s footprints across my face?

You can certainly turn back the clock with facial exercise that employs resistance and isometric contractions of the muscles using the thumbs and fingers. This doesn?t mean that you will look sixteen or even twenty again but shaving off ten or fifteen years from your appearance with exercise rivals the results of most plastic surgery procedures.

Plastic surgery techniques do not stop the aging process; muscles in the face continue to make their downward slide dragging the skin unnaturally, creating the need for more and more surgical procedures. With exercise, the muscles become stronger, the skin looks revitalized and lifted. Most importantly, facial exercises can be performed inexpensively at home.

The muscles of the face elongate just like the muscles in your arms, thighs and buttocks; in fact, the muscles in the face will have elongated about one-half inch by the time most people have reached the age of 55. The elongation is the result of atrophy of the muscles and gravity. Even though we talk, sing or laugh, the muscles continue to soften and become lax; it?s only when the facial muscles are specifically exercised do they begin to plump up and support your skin better.

The elongation of facial muscles affects every area of your face. For instance, the ?apples? in your upper cheeks may not be positioned prominently, in fact, when a smile is made, rather than seeing fullness high on the cheeks, the muscles may appear flat and midway between the nose and mouth.

If you add one-half inch to the length of your forehead, your eye area suffers because the downward motion compresses into the brows. What happens if you add one-half inch or more to the area under the chin? The dreaded wattle is developing. One-half inch added to the jaw line means jowls are forming.

Beginning a facial exercise program to sculpt and contour the face may seem daunting at first because the movements and positioning feel somewhat awkward. Remember when you first learned to ride a bicycle? It was so scary! But after a few days of lumps and bumps, you were pedaling like you were a pro. It?s the same with facial exercise, once you become familiar with the movements, you will marvel that these simple steps can easily produce a younger looking face.

You will want to take beginning photos before you start a facial exercise regimen so that you can track your progress and you will want to update your photos at the end of every third week. In about three weeks friends and colleagues will begin noticing that something is definitely different about you. They may think you have changed your hair in some way or that you are sleeping better but you will know what they?re seeing is your pretty face returning.

In hardly any time at all, you will notice how smooth and refreshed your skin looks; your face glows with radiance from increased oxygenation to the muscles and those sagging, droopy muscles are now portraying a more youthful looking you. Without surgery, drugs or anything harmful you can turn back the clock and look at least 10-15 years younger.

Each one of us is different, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the acne skin care products that work for each of us. Acne can be an upsetting condition, and finding a product that makes a real difference to the quality of our skin can be a slow process of trial and error. But while each of us will react differently to different acne skin care products, experiencing different levels of improvement in our skin, it can be heartening to hear of acne products that have worked for others. So if you are drowning in an overwhelming sea of different choices, here are some suggestions to get you started from some of the top acne products rated by real acne sufferers.

There are two main types of acne product ? oral medication, such as Accutane, or the contraceptive pill that tackle the problem from the inside, and topical solutions that work on the surface of your skin, such as various facial cleanser products. The latter are usually your first line of defence with acne, and there are many great acne products around that can make a real difference to the quality of your skin. Some of the products available can be overly astringent, which can dry your skin excessively, in turn causing the production of more of the sebum that causes spots, so using a milder product is wise, at least to start with. Many of the top acne products contain either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, both of which can be very effective in the treatment of acne, so look for acne skin care products that contain one of these ingredients.

Acne sufferers who have experienced dramatic improvement in their skin recommend the use of a good facial cleanser product as the first step in their skin care routine. Sufferers found improvement when using products such as Avon?s O2 cleanser, Clinique?s acne skin care range, Paula?s Choice products, Aveeno and Mary Kay?s Timewise or Velocity ranges. Individual blemishes respond well to topical solutions that can be used after facial cleansers, such as blemish sticks. Some sufferers also suggest the use of facemasks or peels, which can help remove impurities from your skin.

The wide variety of acne skin care products available today can be your tool in the fight against acne. You don?t have to suffer anymore ? you just have to find the one that works for you.

There are many reasons for unwanted hair growth that may include hirsutism, hypertrichosis or you just simply have hair growing in places you wished you didn?t. Many women pluck their eyebrows, shave their underarms and legs, and will also trim or remove pubic hair just to accommodate today?s fashions. For the most part they will treat hair removal as part of their cosmetic routine.

Most men shave their facial hair unless they are purposely growing a moustache, goatee or beard. There are also men who shave their body hair for various cosmetic reasons. Athletes such as body builders and swimmers will also use hair removal methods in order to enhance their appearance, or performance. There are also medical reasons for getting rid of unwanted hair as well as the reason of personal preference.

If you are considering removing unwanted hair then the good news is that there are a number of hair removal options that are available today. Essentially there are basically two categories of hair removal procedures: Permanent Hair Removal Techniques, and Temporary Hair Removal Techniques.

Permanent Hair Removal

Permanent hair removal procedures seek to eliminate unwanted hair in such a way that it never returns. At times they may be successful but there are instances where this technique turns out to be semi-permanent and they may have to be repeated again over time. Individuals who seek out permanent hair removal methods will mostly likely receive treatment from a hair removal specialist or a licensed Esthetician. Examples of common permanent hair removal techniques include:

  • Hair Removal Laser Treatments ? this procedure is a relatively painless method for hair removal. This treatment has been approved by the FDA and should only be performed by a trained and licensed professional. The hair follicles are destroyed using a small laser beam and results work best on individuals with light colored skin and dark hair. It is not recommended on deeply tanned people. The overall costs to remove facial hair with lasers can run you around $1,000, while removal of hair from pubic areas or legs can costs anywhere from $2,000 - $3,000.

  • Photo Pulsed/Epilation Laser ? this method is similar to laser treatment and is also an FDA approved procedure. It uses a pulsed light beam to eliminate the hair follicles. There are no restrictions in regards to tanning, skin or hair color. It is commonly used to remove hair from the bikini areas as well as underarms. General costs can range between $500 and $2,000 and depend largely on the body area being treated.

  • Electrolysis ? is another relatively painless process which can result in minor side effects that may include infection and scaring. This method will treat every hair follicle on an individual basis. During this procedure a needle is injected directly into the hair follicle and then it is exposed to an electric charge. This process can take months and is largely dependent upon the size of the area that is undergoing the treatment. If you are considering this type of treatment then costs may run you as high as $1,000 - $3,000, for pubic or leg areas.
Temporary Hair Removal

Temporary hair removal techniques are more inclined to work for short periods of time and are subject to the body?s normal hair growth cycle. There are a number of home treatment methods available on the market and some of these techniques can also be performed by a certified Esthetician as well.

The temporary hair removal methods include a number of shaving, plucking, and waxing procedures, as well as hair removal creams and other various exotic procedures.

As you can see the options for removing unwanted body hair are large. The bottom line on choosing a method that is right for you can come down to your budget as well as lifestyle. If you are interested in removing unwanted body hair for sports-related competitions, or cosmetic reasons one should consider laser therapy if they can afford it. These methods are the best for eliminating large areas of body hair.

You?ve looked in the mirror and have decided it?s time to do something for your face. You?re not exactly certain whether you should call the nearest plastic surgeon or take matters into your own hands. After all, this is your face and even though you don?t want to look sixteen again, you do want to do something that will stop those tired eyes and droopy cheeks.

Facial exercise has been in and out of vogue for hundreds of years. There are many practitioners of facial manipulation; so what works best?

There?s yoga for the face that aids lymphatic drainage, needle therapy via acupuncture, contortions and isometric/resistance training. All seem to have one goal and that is to help the user look youthful.

There are many benefits when exercise is used for the face: better posture is achieved as the neck muscles strengthen, a healthier face develops as blood flow is increased and collagen production is stimulated, and the facial skin becomes supple, refreshed and resilient. A facial exerciser will look younger as the sagging skin and supporting muscles reposition and align; the face will firm and lift.

Exercise is natural. It?s not invasive, there is no risk and the only ?tools? one needs are the fingers and thumbs.

Facial exercises using isometric and resistance type movements prove best. Why? Unlike other parts of the body, the facial muscles are connected to bone on one end only. The other end is connected to another muscle. In order to achieve a contraction in these muscles, special anchoring techniques are required for the specific muscle or muscle group. Just like exercising your arms or legs, when a contraction of the muscle is created, the muscles shorten and then ?plump?. When facial muscles contract this action lifts the skin because facial skin is attached directly to the muscles

Looking younger is the mantra of most every baby boomer. This generation of ?forever young? adults knows the importance of good eating habits, exercising the body and using the finest non-chemical skin care items. Facial exercise fits the bill for anyone wanting to look 10-15 years younger without spending their children?s inheritance. Whether you?re 35 or 70, you will see a difference when you exercise your face.

The total number of moisturizers on the market today can be overwhelming. Which one is the right one for your skin type? Well, that depends. As we get older, estrogen becomes more important because of two structural proteins called collagen and elastin. These two proteins actually give us structure and elasticity. As we age, the collagen begins to break down. As it breaks down, we start to notice fine lines and wrinkles appearing. This is where a good facial moisturizer comes in. If you find one that contains collagen and elastin, it can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Now if you are still young, you may not need this type of skin moisturizer. A growing trend is to use all natural moisturizers. We will discuss the benefits to that next.

Your skin is your largest organ and can therefore absorb into your bloodstream certain chemicals found in today?s moisturizers. There are over 5000 chemicals used in personal care products and that is one of the reasons people are turning to natural moisturizers and beauty products. When it comes to a facial moisturizer, find one that contains vitamin A and E. These vitamins are great for your complexion and they can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Getting a cream with an SPF of 15 or greater will provide you with the protection you need when outdoors. The sun?s harmful rays can cause some serious damage.

You can use the best, most expensive moisturizer in the world, but your complexion won?t look its best unless you do some extra things. First, you must drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water a day to make sure you stay hydrated. Make sure to exercise and stay healthy. After a good work out, be sure to apply a quality facial moisturizer. When out in the sun, wear a hat and a sunscreen with minimum SPF 15. Remember, you don?t necessarily have to buy your skin moisturizer. There are a number of recipes on line that tell you exactly how to make your own us ingredients such as Aloe Vera, olive oil, cocoa butter and rose water.

Our face is what we show to the world, what identifies us to other people. We always want to show and put on the best face possible. However, when we get acne, it can really upset us as adults, especially if we are unaware of it and someone else points it out to us. And if this happens to us as a social acceptance seeking teenager, however, it can be traumatizing.

There are many products on the market right now that claim to all but almost eliminate acne. However, most doctors claim that there is no cure for acne. You have to wonder sometimes though, since there are people that don't ever seem to have acne breakouts, and of course there are those models on TV with that perfect, clear skin. How do they do it?

Could the solution really be in using the right cleansers that are advertised on TV? Some of them are famously expensive. But are they worth the cost in terms of both money and diligence in scrubbing our faces every day?

There have been many cleansers on the market, both famous and obscure. Accutane used to be a popular, and wildly expensive treatment that some people used to swear by, that is, until it was discovered that it required greater and greater amounts of it to be effective. And of course, later you could have one of the infamous Accutane Breakouts bringing with it worse acne than ever before that was effectively untreatable. But today, we have more medicines, such as the popular Proactiv treatment that was created by true dermatologists.

Getting rid of acne, as you already (or will eventually) know, is rather a personal odyssey. It seems no person goes through exactly the same process dealing with acne, but it's possible to learn alot from each other's experiences. I have a success story, hopefully to your benefit, that I would like to share with you. It is a personal story of getting rid of acne and about an experience with acne cleansers. You can read all about it in the second part of this article.

Read the second part of this article at Acne Facial Cleansers by Tom Straub.

Cosmetic plastic surgery boosts your confidence the way you look. And increase in self-confidence in the look can encourage you to focus your energy on other areas like family and career. There may me certain flaws in your body and face that makeup, diet and exercise can?t help mask. There you should look into the ultimate in makeover, i.e., cosmetic plastic surgery.

The advancement of corrective body and facial surgeries has made the cosmetic procedures easy, affordable and less invasive. This has led many to go for pure cosmetic procedures where aesthetic value comes first. But, cosmetic procedures are not totally different from reconstructive procedures. Cosmetic surgery also considers your general health conditions and particular physical traits. That?s why you should not plunge into a procedure just for look alteration.

Of many cosmetic procedures collagen injection is a popular procedure embraced by many women to achieve that fuller and perfect lip, and to remove the facial wrinkles.

Collagen injections are all-purpose fillers to fix problems on the face. Collagen is filled into the areas that need plumping-up. For removal of wrinkles, scars, and different marks these are the most suitable stuffs. Collagen can add volume to face giving it smooth appearance.

We all have collagen, a kind of protein, between the skin and the underlying tissues. This collagen helps to build fascia, the network of fibers that gives skin its bounce, volume and softness. That?s why collagen injections are popular in celeb circles and administered as: collagen lip injection, facial collagen injections, buttock collagen injections and scar collagen injections.

Why do we need collagen injections?

Well, we have the collagen in our tissues. But its amount over ages goes on decrease after youth and the skin loses elasticity. Collagen injection helps replenish this condition. The idea behind injecting collagen is to replenish this underlying skin structure so that it regains its ability to bounce back. Collagen replacement therapy helps smooth facial lines as well as reduces the look of most types of scars. Taking a collagen injection is as easy as taking any other injection.

Rarely, it does involve some complications like bruising, redness and puffiness of skin. In severe cases, the collagen migrates to other parts of the body. But the complications can be avoided with proper consultation with a surgeon by doing collagen acceptance/rejection test in one?s body. What are different types of collagen?

? Bovine collagen: Derived from the tissues of cow, the bovine collagen is very compatible with human skin. It has fewer cases of allergy and rejection. Zyderm is the most popular names in bovine collagen.

If you have an issue with unwanted hair, you have probably tried the traditional methods that promise results, but may have left you feeling as if you were held hostage by the time needed to stay hair free. If this sounds like your situation, you may be interested in trying electrolysis hair removal as a permanent form of hair removal.

While the electrolysis hair removal method is considered permanent, this does not happen in the first visit. In fact, it can take a large amount of treatments before an area is considered to be free of hair. One reason for this is that hair follicles grow at different times; therefore, some of the follicles will be dormant and are not treated.

It is important to note that while an increasing number or do-it-yourself electrolysis systems are on the market; this is not a good idea, particularly when facial hair needs to be removed. This is because the home systems use a lesser amount of voltage, therefore allowing a greater number of hair follicles to survive and re-grow. Removing hair on the face requires a mirror, which can distort vision and lead to problems.

While electrolysis can be a painful procedure to endure, the use of a pain relieving cream can lessen or eliminate the pain. The reason for the pain is that a thin wire is placed directly on the hair follicle itself and electricity is passed through, therefore effectively destroying the root.

The method of hair removal known as electrolysis began in 1875 when a doctor named Charles E. Michel started to remove ingrown eyelashes with an electric current and a very fine wire. Since that time, electrolysis is the only proven form for the permanent removal of unwanted hair.

Facial Implant is the medical terminology for what most people refer to as facial cheek implant, facial prosthetic implant, facial implant surgery, and facial implants.

In this procedure the goal is to correct and change the shape and balance of the face using formed implants to build up a diminishing chin, add distinction to cheekbones, or reshape the jaw line.

Length and details of the Facial Implant procedure

The length of operation typically runs 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Patients are usually given a general or local anesthesia, with sedation.

Most Facial Implants procedures are routinely outpatient with some cases requiring an overnight hospital stay.

Risks and/or complications related to a Facial Implant procedure

In a Facial Implant surgery the patient may experience potential side effects consisting of temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, numbness and/or stiffness in the lower facial areas. If the procedure includes surgery to the jaw, a patient may experience the inability to open fully open their mouth for several weeks.

In addition there are other associated risks with this procedure that include the risk of shifting or inexact positioning of implant, infection, excess tightening and hardening of scar tissue in the region of the formed implant.

Patients may return to work in approximately 1 week. Those involved in sports or other physical activities should avoid activity that could jar or bump face. Individuals will be able to resume these activities in approximately 6 weeks or more. Long-term results of a Facial Implant procedure

In this procedure the end results are usually permanent.

How much does a Facial Implant procedure cost?

The national average for cheek implants is approximately $2,300

Will my insurance cover a Facial Implant procedure?

Because a Facial Implant procedure is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the operation. However in some cases such as reconstructive surgery it may be medically necessary, your health care insurance may be able to cover the costs.

Hyaluronic acid products are poised to continue their fast growth, particularly in the form of hyaluronic acid injections, according to E-Hyaluronicacid.com. The latest reason behind this growth is Medicis? recent announcement that it has appointed supermodel, Frederique van der Wal to be the new face of Restylane. Frederique, one of modeling?s most recognizing stars, has appeared on nine Cosmopolitan and in several other publications including Victoria?s Secret, Harpers Bazaar and Vogue.

Frederique?s image will appear on the company?s website and on its information brochures. Van der Wal will additionally serve as the product?s spokeswoman for the firm?s public relation campaign. Frederique?s visibility, along with her personal endorsement of the product, is sure to increase the growing popularity of Restylane. Restylane which is primarily composed of hyaluronic acid, is already the number one dermal filler on the US market, and many plastic surgeons predict that it will eventually surpass collagen and botox ? as the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment.

In accepting her new position, Frederique stated, ?Restylane is a product in which I truly believe?Maintaining a youthful appearance is vital to my career, so I was excited to find a natural, non-invasive treatment that can safely erase some of the fine lines I?ve recently started to notice.? Jonah Shacknai, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medicis responded with, [Frederique?s enthusiasm for the product coupled with her immense success in the modeling and entertainment industries and great personality make her a natural choice for us.

The hyaluronic acid product Restylane is the first and only dermal filler made of crystal-clear gel called NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid). Restylane uses a dual mechanism of action to correct wrinkles and folds. Upon being injected beneath the skin's surface, the NASHA gel adds natural volume and lift to smooth wrinkles and folds. The NASHA gel integrates into dermal tissue, then attracts and binds to water molecules to help maintain volume. Restylane is gradually degraded by the body's own mechanism and disappears without any residue. In addition, Restylane is the only FDA approved filler with clinical data supporting its efficacy for as long as six months.

Restylane does not require any allergy or skin test prior to injection. In addition, the reported hyaluronic acid injection side effects have been limited to temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. As such, Restylane appears to be one of safest and most effective options on the anti-aging market.

E-Hyaluronicacid.com is dedicated to promoting an understanding of Hyaluronic acid, a major ingredient in many medical and anti-aging therapies and to highlighting places where you can safely purchase Hyaluronic acid products. For more information go to Hyaluronic Acid.

Staggering amounts of money are spent daily on cosmetics and skin care products that promise to lift, firm and tighten our faces. How many of us use a product for just a few weeks before purchasing yet another product? Do we jump from item to item because we really don?t see a visible improvement and we feel disappointed in the results?

The ads are so compelling and we want to believe that we can look younger and healthier just by topically applying the latest and greatest discovery. Maybe that will happen one day but for most of us, using certain skincare items and cosmetic aids has not been helpful in the long-term because Mother Nature continues to tromp across our faces causing us to look older.

When we look at our faces in a mirror, if we?re over 40, the aging we see isn?t usually about wrinkles. The aging we see is looseness in our skin; maybe we see tired, sagging eyelids developing or a deepening nose to mouth fold or line. Our jaw probably isn?t quite as distinguished as it was a few years back as it slides downward into the neck. Maybe this face is beginning to resemble your older relatives.

Is your face puffy and would you like to see it have more contours? No skin care or cosmetic product that can do that. Even dieting cannot produce the firm, toned, youthful face you remember in your 20?s; in fact, dieting alone may deplete the fat underneath the skin making you look older than your years.

There are several avenues to address a droopy face but only one solution.

Many men and women seek plastic surgery to help correct signs of aging. Facelifts, eye lifts, and brow lifts are prevalent but they are only a temporary solution. The risk involved to one?s health and bank account is dreadful. Infection, loss of sensation, slow healing time and unexpected outcomes are just a few potential complications one can experience from surgical procedures.

Another temporary avenue available is injected fillers that plump up the skin where there is creasing or a sunken appearance. Some injectables paralyze the muscles, relaxing the skin so wrinkles are less apparent. These expensive fillers are being injected at an alarming rate and the patients seeking treatments are younger than ever. Even though these fillers may temporarily ease the look of aging, the results will not last and will need to be repeated many, many times over a lifetime. These fillers only mask aging and the user will continue to experience sagging facial muscles.

So what is the secret to stop an aging face? It?s exercise ? Facial Exercise. Just like the body responds to Pilates, weight training, sit ups, etc., your face will look younger and healthier with exercise.

Just any old exercise won?t do; isometric and resistance type exercises work for your face just like exercise works for the body. Facial muscles need exercise; the motions and movements we make daily aren?t considered exercise because there is no resistance. No matter if you?re singing, yawning or yelling; these movements aren?t sufficient to create a younger looking face. The reason is that facial muscles attach to bone on one end and the other end of the muscle weaves over and under other muscles. It is only when special anchoring techniques are applied that a contraction can be caused in the muscle or muscle group; this contracting motion then allows the muscles to become fuller, plumper and more youthfully positioned. This action lifts the face.

Imagine applying these techniques for a few weeks and looking 10-15 years younger without invasive or costly procedures. You create the look of a face lift and save a ton of money with no risk to your health or your savings. You can keep the aging process in abeyance, feel revitalized, and look healthier and younger just by exercising your face a few minutes each day.

For most of us, being an ?open book? to others is not desirable and traditionally, blushing is associated with being ashamed or being timid. This is why more and more people experiencing blushing and facial redness are considering treatments to diminish its effects. Severe cases of blushing are called idiopathic cranio-facial erythema ? almost any slight trigger can cause very visible facial blushing. There are different types of treatments for this conditions: surgical facial blushing treatments, drug treatments for blushing and psychological treatments.

Surgical facial blushing treatments

ETS was one of the potential treatments for blushing. It was believed that ETS was responsible for diminished facial blushing with patients who used it for palmar hyperhidrosis treatments. Later studies, however, concluded that ETS is not such a good choice for this particular condition. The compensatory sweat levels it produces and the numerous side effects are strong points against using ETS for facial blushing treatments. With ETS out of the questions, what are the other choices?

Drug treatments for blushing

Robinol, Ditropan and Propanthelin together with a series of anticholinergic drugs are good choices when it comes to facial redness and excessive blushing. These offer a more conservative approach and should be tried before any surgical operation is considered. This approach can provide patients with good results. Some choose to combine the blushing treatment with drugs like Xanax. Other treatment methods may include bio feedback, although this has not been proven to be very effective. Anxiety medications, Beta-blockers and Clonidine are also used in facial blushing treatments.

Psychological treatment options

Social phobia is one of the causes for facial blushing and direct psychological treatments usually produce excellent results. Psychological treatment may include: Involuntary blushing is common to people who have social phobia. In most cases, these disorders respond well to treatment. Psychological treatment options can include: Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) ? a for of treatment that aims to help people change their behavior and thinking patterns in certain social situations. Breathing techniques are also used commonly for facial blushing, since symptoms of anxiety are triggered by hyperventilation. Fear confrontation is another method used to cure facial blushing ? the patient is helped, by a counselor, to overcome social fears and get over the social phobias.

For a comprehensive look at hyperhidrosis treatments, please visit hidrosiscure.com where you will find more information on facial hyperhidrosis treatments; palmar hyperhidrosis; pedal hyperhidrosis and more.

Hyperhidrosis can be found in many different forms and although it can affect any area of the skin the most common types of Hyperhidrosis are: palmar, axillary, facial of pedal Hyperhidrosis.

Finding the cure - medication

Hyperhidrosis can be treated both with medical drugs and through surgery. People suffering from this disease can try topical anti-perspirants, like aluminum chloride or Drysol, oral medicines such as glycoprrolate or Robinol, amitriptyline, even Botox. When used regularly, medical treatment can decrease the problem, cure it for a short period of time but can also have important side effects. This is why its advisable to consult your doctor regarding your drug treatment. The main issue here is that since medical drug treatment require long term dosages and continuous drug treatment, this also leads to side effects. Natural hyperhidrosis treatments are also available (such as herbal anitperspirants or acupuncture) but they are almost ineffective on aggravated excessive sweat cases ? you can find out more about this on hidrosiscure.com.

Surgery for excessive sweat

Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy is the most common hyperhidrosis surgical procedure. Also known as ETS, this type of surgery is mostly used to treat axillary hyperhidrosis, combating underarm sweat. There are three different ways in which the Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy surgical procedure can be performed:

? ETS, or sympathectomy by clamping, is a procedure in which the nerve activity is interrupted by applying a clamp on them.

? Sympathetic nerve resection is a different procedure, where the nerves are cut in specific areas. This may be effective in some cases, but it is a permanent operation and cannot be reversed.

? Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy by cutting removes the majority of the nerves responsible for excessive sweating, and the effects are permanent.

Tweezing refers to removing hairs with an instrument like a pair of tweezers or forceps. It is also sometimes referred to as plucking.

Hair tweezing is sometimes used to deal with unwanted eyebrow hair and some facial hair although clearly precautions need to be taken before you start pulling hairs out from such visible and sensitive areas!

While hair tweezing can help you temporarily remove individual hairs, it is a very limited hair removal option since larger areas cannot effectively be cleared.

While tweezing is a cheap method of temporary hair removal since it just involves buying a pair of tweezers, it remains a temporary method of hair removal with limitations.

Certainly, pulling hairs out individually can be time consuming and painful and could result in ingrown hairs if it's done improperly.

When it comes to hair tweezing, before you pick up a pair of tweezers and start pulling out hairs, you're best to consider exactly what hair you want removed and whether or not hair tweezing is the best method to achieve it.

Also, before you start tweezing consider whether or not you may choose laser or light hair removal treatment in the near future.

A laser or light system hair removal practitioner may tell you to avoid tweezing and using other hair removal options before any laser or light treatment you schedule.

If in doubt, consult a professional.

Temporary and permanent hair removal technology is evolving constantly and is relevant to both men and women who want to remove unwanted hair.

Winter is here and the frost is not only nipping at your nose but the whole face. Fortunately, with a facial skin care routine that meets your exact skin care needs you can be on your way to healthy, radiant skin tone.

YOUR SKIN IS DRY OR SENSITIVE IF IT:

? Stings or burns when skin-care products are used
? Is easily irritated
? Sometimes appears red and inflamed
? Feels itchy, dry, rough and flaky

Facial skin care for dry skin:

Regular bath soaps clean well but are powerfully alkaline and irritating for both dry and sensitive skin. Clear soaps containing glycerin and alcohol may also be too drying. So, as an alternative of soap, dermatologists suggest a soap-free, sensitive skin cleansers. If your skin is very dry or sensitive, you may need to alternate a washable lotion with a sensitive-skin bar. After cleansing dry skin, apply a moisturizer that is light, hypoallergenic, preservative-free, all-purpose and water based. For extremely dry skin, moisturize with petroleum jelly or an oil-based lotion with 20 percent urea. After cleansing sensitive skin, apply a light, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free moisturizer, like Eucerin. To check your tolerance of the product, dab the moisturizer behind your ears for the first few days.

YOUR SKIN IS NORMAL IF IT:

? Is usually smooth and supple
? Is generally clear/blemish-free
? Appears neither dry nor oily

Facial skin care for normal skin:

You?re one of those lucky people whose face can take some abuse and still bounce back, looking fresher than ever. Almost any cleanser (from regular bath soap to sensitive-skin bars) will work for you. If you need a moisturizer ? some people with normal skin don?t! ? choose a light, hypoallergenic, preservative free, all-purpose, water-based moisturizer after washing.

YOUR SKIN IS OILY IF IT:

? Has enlarged pores or blackheads
? Appears shiny and feels greasy

Facial skin care for oily skin:

Regular bath soap, morning and night, is fine for cleansing ? your skin actually benefits from the drying effect of strongly alkaline bath soaps. If necessary, use an astringent pad at midday. Because your skin is naturally oily, you may not need a moisturizer. But if you do, choose one that?s noncomedogenic (won?t cause acne) and either oil-free or water-based ?Neutrogena or Aveeno, for example.

YOUR SKIN IS COMBINATION IF IT:

? Is oily on your forehead, nose or chin
? Is dry on your cheeks and around your eyes

Facial skin care for combination skin:

Dermatologists recommend one of two cleansing routines for women with combination skin. You can wash with a gentle facial cleanser in the morning and use an alcohol-free astringent on oily areas later in the day. Or wash with a soap-free cleanser on dry areas and with regular bath soap on oily areas. Treat dry patches as dry skin, then apply a water-based or oil-free noncomedogenic moisturizer to your entire face.

Skin care tips for every type of skin:

No matter how oily, dry or sensitive your skin, always clean gently. Use warm (not hot) water and your fingertips (not a wash cloth). Rinse well. Then use a towel to pat (not rub) your face dry. Wash your face no more than once or twice a day. After patting skin dry, apply moisturizer to skin while it?s still damp to ensure that it is absorbed. Unless your moisturizer provides protection from damaging sun rays, consider applying a light sunscreen as well.

Many women experience unwanted facial hair and wish to have it removed.? It can be due to genetics, age, medication or many women just want it removed for cosmetic reasons, like eyebrow hair.? Women experience growth of unwanted facial hair during certain times of their life, such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.? Regardless, there is a large population of women who want a safe, long lasting, and effective way to remove facial hair.? One way to remove facial hair is through shaving.? Although the old wives tale that this will cause the hair it grow back thicker and faster is not true, many woman feel this is too masculine a way to remove facial hair.? Plus, it only eliminates the problem for a short amount of time and may irritate sensitive skin.

One of the most common ways for women to remove facial hair is by plucking.? They are probably already familiar with this due to plucking their eyebrows with a process.? If they see a darker hair on their lip or chin, it is easy enough to pluck out.? Plucking the hair removes it longer than shaving, but is still not the permanent solution for which many women are looking.? Waxing is similar to plucking, but it can be more painful and is more likely to irritate sensitive skin.? The same is true for creams that remove hair plus many of them have a bad smell.? There is a skin cream called Vaniqa that decreases facial hair growth, but it is also only temporary and requires a prescription from a doctor.

You can purchase epilators with tweezers at most beauty stores, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that that is no statistically significant data to prove that tweezer epilators provide permanent hair removal.? It may for some, and not for others.? One factor may be the coarseness of your hair.?

If you are looking for a method to remove facial hair permanently, try electrolysis.? Electrolysis is the process by which facial hair is removed using electrical currents.? A trained professional, often referred to as an electrologist or electrolysist, must perform this procedure.? They take a metal probe and insert it into an individual hair follicle.? The electrical current is then delivered to the follicle, destroying it.? One the procedure is complete; the hair is removed with sterile forceps. Each hair follicle must be treated individually.? The discomfort of this process varies among clients. Some have reported feeling a slight pinprick and some have reported a more painful feeling.? As with many medical procedures, there is a chance of scarring, although it is minimal if you are using a well-trained electrologist.? But, immediately after a hair follicle is treated, there may be a small, red lesion, much like an insect bite for a short time.
?
While electrolysis will permanently remove the hair, it may not be instantaneous.? You may have to have several electrolysis treatments to the same hair follicle before the hair is completely removed.? This is because your hair cells grow in cycles and electrolysis only works if the hair is in its growth phase.? Many electrologists charge by the amount of time it takes to remove the hair.? Ten minutes runs about $18 and 30 minutes costs about $34.

Another form of permanent facial hair removal is laser treatments.? This is a new technology, only being offered commercially since the mid 1990s.? This may also be referred to as phototricholysis or photoepilation.? Like electrolysis, this may require several treatments before the hair is removed permanently.? The laser light also feels like a pinprick to most patients.? However, the laser treatments will not work on blonde, red, or white hairs.? It will however work on areas that electrolysis will not, such as the ears and nose.? Laser hair treatments for the upper lip normally run about $50 per session as does the chin treatments.? If you have facial hair on your cheeks, those treatments are a little more expensive ? around $75 per treatment.

If you decide to do electrolysis or laser treatments for your unwanted facial hair, you should always talk to your doctor first about any pre-existing conditions you might have that would make you an unlikely candidate for these treatments.? There is no need to be ashamed of having your unwanted facial hair treated.? Do some research on the Internet to find the best way for you to have the hair removed.? There is no doubt it will make you feel better about yourself.

Botox, once the ?darling? of the celebrity crowd has moved front and center into the business world where daring men and women go to great lengths to disguise frown lines, age lines and anything resembling Mother Nature?s wicked march across their faces.

Why? They know their jobs require them to look fresh and healthy; old, deeply lined, tired, faces are becoming pass? because ideas coming from someone wearing an out of shape, soft, sagging face can equate to old, stale ideas in the business arena. Botox, once used primarily by women is now used by more and more men as they, too, realize the importance of maintaining a more youthful appearance. Their jobs may just depend on it.

Some say Botox is a wonder drug that smoothes wrinkles and indeed it does; however there are a few drawbacks that are a concern. According to the Independent, a London based newspaper, ?Increasingly, people who have used or considered Botox are worried about possible side-effects, including developing fresh wrinkles as they change expressions to compensate for the paralysis in parts of their faces.?

Wait! Develop fresh wrinkles??? Dr. David Becker, professor of dermatology, Cornell Medical College, issued a caution linking Botox injections to development of new wrinkles when users recreate facial expressions. The paralyzed muscles cannot respond so nearby muscles are automatically summoned. The result? New wrinkles. Oh dear.

Botox has been used since the early 1990?s to treat lines and wrinkles associated with the motion of underlying facial muscles. Expressions such as excessive brow movements can cause horizontal lines, eye squints produce crows feet and subtle sagging of the facial muscles can make skin drape strangely

Botox cannot stop the sagging muscles; in fact, Dr Michelle Copeland, a plastic surgeon in NY said, ??Because Botox wears off, more frequent injections are required to maintain its effects or the patient?s face will return to its wrinkly state.?

And what if you are wearing a ?severe/angry facial expression? that after botox develops into a frozen, smooth, plastic look? Does that work to your advantage? Perhaps. Your facial expressions are who you are; take those away and you just may resemble a Stepford wife; however, there are those users who swear that having a subdued expression has helped them with intense negotiations and other business related circumstances, calling the poker faced look a ?competitive edge?.

Just remember:

1) Botox can result in the development of fine lines and wrinkles in other areas of the face.
2) Botox requires more painful injections to maintain results.
3) Botox is costly; treatments range from $200-$600.
4) Botox can result in undesirable side effects including allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, unusual muscle weakness, chest pain, headaches and dizziness.

What if you could avoid needles and scalpels and look younger? What if you could be in charge of the aging process and look healthier? What if you could manipulate and retrain your facial muscles to look and act younger without resorting to expensive, barbaric measures that are risky and dangerous? Well, you can!

Muscles in the face can be retrained when they are exercised. Your forehead muscle can tighten, crows feet can diminish and your face can look firm and healthy without any risk from costly injections or fillers. And actually if you think about it, facial exercise makes sense medically. After all, when you exercise your body, you're going to tone and tighten the muscles in your body. So why not apply the same principles to your face? If you continue to exercise your face, you will look substantially younger indefinitely.

These days we are exposed to so many harsh chemicals, and many people are beginning to wonder if the products that contain these substances are in fact as good for us as the advertising claims. Various skin conditions, such as acne, are increasingly recognized as symptoms of an imbalance in the way we live, leading many people to begin their search for a natural acne treatment that includes healthy eating and regular exercise. But for those of us whose skin requires a little further help ? are there any natural acne treatments available that can help us improve our skin?

A well balanced diet, accompanied by some regular light exercise, are the first tools to help us bring our body back into balance, and are thus two of the best natural acne remedies around. While things like poor diet do not directly cause acne, taking care of our general health provides our bodies with the tools it needs to fight back against conditions like these, making general health optimization possibly the best acne cure of all.

It makes sense to take steps to free your body from having to deal with the pressures of modern living, such as stress and other toxic factors. Healthy eating and relaxation will lead to a definite improvement in your health, and as a result, in the appearance of your skin.

If your body needs a little extra help in your natural acne treatment, there are various products sitting in your kitchen right now that can help. Some acne sufferers have found that the application of natural lemon juice to their skin has helped, while others have found that oatmeal makes a great natural facial cleanser. If you prefer to treat your skin with a pre-prepared product, look for one that contains natural oils, as these work in harmony with your skin.

Tea Tree oil, for example, is a wonderful astringent that can speed the healing process of a pimple, while vitamin E helps in the healing of scars. Some patients have found that ingesting certain of the food in their kitchen aggravates their skin, so it makes sense to make a list of these foods and avoid them when you can. Work in harmony with the natural products around you and you will find that a natural acne treatment can be more gently effective than anything you might buy in a drug store.

In many cases of Rhinoplasty, nasal tissue needs to be built up as opposed to reduced. This is quite common in ethnic rhinoplasties, revision rhinoplasties, and congenital or traumatic deformities.

Building up the nose. Most surgeons prefer to use the patient's own tissue i.e. cartilage to achieve this. The most commonly used cartilage comes from the nose itself: the nasal septum cartilage. The septum is a quadrangular shaped cartilage in the middle of your nose on the inside. You can feel it be pinching the soft part of your nose between your thumb and forefinger. Feel that firm tissue in between? That's the septum. The septum is important because it divides the nasal cavity in half and plays a roll in air flow dynamics when you breathe. It also supports the nose!

So how can you take away septal cartilage and not harm the nose? From years of research and experience in the field of head and neck surgery, we have learned that there is a segment of cartilage that plays no role in support of the nose, and we can remove it safely to use in building up other parts of the nose.

Sometimes the septal cartilage is not enough. In that case, surgeons turn to the ear cartilage. Just as in the nose, there is a segment of ear cartilage (called conchal cartilage) that can be safely removed and transferred to the nose. This can be done through a simple, well-hidden incision behind the ear. Just like the nose cartilage, ear cartilage almost always survives and stays in the nose to give a permanent result.

So you?ve got some hair somewhere that you are just dying to get rid of. Maybe you?re sick of shaving it, or maybe you can?t even reach to shave it. Waxing doesn?t last very long, and most of the other products on the market are either are ineffective or outright scams.

Then there is the laser. Laser hair removal has been available now for over ten years. Significant technological advances have been made since the fist lasers hit the market. Today?s lasers are more effective and longer lasting, with several receiving clearance to be marketed for ?permanent hair reduction?. With all the lasers to choose from, is one laser better than the others, or does your choice of laser even matter?

Hair Removal Lasers: Choosing the Right Equipment

Does your choice of laser affect the ultimate outcome of your treatment? The short answers to these two questions are no and yes. Despite what anyone might tell you, no single laser has been clinically proven to be the best ? there simply have not been sufficient comparative trials to establish this. As a result, doctors and clinics tend to promote the virtues of whatever laser they purchased or leased. At $70,000 to $125,000 per machine, you can see why they have a vested interest in promoting their chosen equipment.

Yet while there is not yet a clear-cut winner of the ?best laser? designation, certain lasers do work better for people with certain skin types and hair colors. There are several guidelines that are important in helping you choose which laser is right for you.

Laser Safety and Dark Skin: Avoiding Side Effects

The first guideline is this: the longer the laser?s wavelength, the safer it is on darker skin and the fewer side effects. The reason for this is that longer wavelength laser energy tends to penetrate deeper into the skin. This is especially important in people with dark or tanned skin. Nd:YAG lasers have the longest wavelength of current hair removal lasers at 1064nm. Nd:YAG lasers include the CoolGlide, the Lyra, and the Athos. Diode Lasers, with the second longest wavelength of current hair removal lasers at 810nm, are also used to treat people with olive to dark complexions. Thus diode lasers are a viable alternative if you cannot find a doctor with an Nd:YAG laser in your area. Popular diode lasers include the LightSheer, LaserLight, and Apex 800.

Laser Speed and Hair Removal Cost: Cutting the Price of Treatment

The second guideline to keep in mind is this: the faster the laser?s repetition rate (the speed at which it ?fires?) and the larger its spot size (the size of skin treated with each laser shot) the faster the treatment. For areas such as the legs or back, it is wise to choose a laser that can cover a large area in short time. Alexandrite lasers like the GentleLase have the largest spots sizes available on the market at up to 18mm. The GentleLase is perhaps the fastest on the market at covering large areas. The Lightsheer diode is also quite fast and represents a good alternative if you have olive or brown skin. Generally, the faster the laser, the less your treatment will cost, so it pays to seek out a speedy laser when treating large areas.

Laser Hair Removal: Treatment of Fine Hairs

Finally, if the hair you want removed is fine or light in texture (as opposed to light in color), you might find that it is less responsive to laser treatment than is thicker or coarser hair. In this instance, Alexandrite lasers such as the GentleLase might be your best choice (unless you have dark skin). The GentleLase has been reported to be particularly effective on fine hairs. Nd:YAG lasers are the least effective on fine hairs, and diode lasers fall somewhere in-between.

Ultimately, you must decide upon a laser in consultation with an experienced doctor, for they are best able to determine your precise skin type. Since many laser hair removal offices and clinics offer free consultations and spot checks, it is usually wise to get the opinions of two or more doctors before choosing a laser and a treatment plan.

By doing your research and finding the right laser for you, you will help ensure that your laser hair removal experience will be a successful one (and you might even cut your costs at the same time).

As we grow older, the effects of exposure to the sun and elements can negatively impact our skin. Peels offer one solution for beating back the effects of time.

Peels For That Aged Skin

A peel is used to address issues with the skin on your face. Whether through extensive exposure to the sun, effects of pollution over time or other causes, one?s facial skin can take on disturbing appearances. A peel is designed to address these issues by peeling away the outer layers of damaged skin.

A peel is not a cure all. It is an option for dealing with specific issues. These include restoring wrinkled skin, although the wrinkles must be nominal. Major wrinkles must be addressed through more aggressive techniques such as facelifts. Skin blemishes, however, are primed for treatment with peels. Pigment variations from one area of the face to another can also be treated with peels. Skin damaged by exposure to the sun is also a problem peels can address since the process removes the damaged skin to reveal undamaged skin.

A peel for an entire face can take a couple of hours. Anesthesia is generally not used, but can be when called for in particular situations. Recovery time depends on the type of peel, but one should be able to pursue normal activities within a month. Following the peel, great care needs to be given to protecting the skin since it is being exposed to the elements for the first time. The skin will generally be red and exposure to the elements can lead to side effects such as infection, color changes and such. Make sure to discuss the risks, benefits and recovery requirements before undertaking the procedure.

Peels are medically available to all, but that doesn?t mean everyone should get them. In general, peels work best with patients that have fair and thin skin. Make sure to speak with your medical professional regarding whether a peel is an option for your situation.

In general, peels are a common procedure for dealing with issues concerning facial skin. If you are a candidate for the procedure, it can be an effective method of turning back the ravages of time and is much less aggressive than a facelift.

The makeover shows on television have resulted in a significant upswing in the popularity of facial plastic surgery procedures. They often fail to show, however, the swelling afterwards.

Swelling After Facial Procedures

Choosing to have plastic surgery is always a big step. More people are deciding to have this permanent form of cosmetic change due to the aging population and the amount of Hollywood stars that talk about their procedures. An especially popular form of plastic surgery for women and men over 40 are facial procedures. Here are a few things that you can expect when going in for yours.

Keep in mind that there are many different types of plastic surgeries for the face that can be performed. There are upper and lower lifts. There are also laser treatments, which are also known as laser skin resurfacing. The goal of all facial procedures is to correct issues on the face that can happen as a person ages. Sagging skin, wrinkles, jowls and deep cheek folds are all issues that traditional surgeries can correct, while laser procedures tend to target smaller skin imperfections such as small wrinkles.

A facial procedure is usually performed by a board certified plastic surgeon under general anesthesia. Cuts are made into the skin at the hairline, and the underlying tissue and muscle is pulled taut. This gives the skin a smoother, more youthful appearance. Sometimes, excess skin is also removed from the facial area. All of this work can be done on an outpatient basis. Patients are often up and moving around very soon.

If you have a full or partial surgery, you are going to have to deal with some discomfort afterwards. Swelling will be a part of this and you have to have reasonable expectations. You are not going to come out of surgery and immediately look great. The adjustment of muscles, fatty tissue and skin is going to get a reaction from the body. Swelling will be prominent immediately after the procedure as the body forces blood into the area to help with the healing. Frankly, your face will look like a balloon. After a few weeks, however, the swelling should seriously abate. This will let you get a better idea of the final look. That being said, some minor swelling can last as long as 10 months, so you have to be patient.

Having plastic surgery on your face requires significant surgical invasion into muscles, skin and fatty material. The body is going to act to heal itself by pushing blood into the area. This will result in swelling on a large scale. Don?t panic when you see yourself for the first time after the surgery. The swelling will go down with time.

How old will you be when you notice the first signs of aging? Will aging affect your hips, thighs or buttocks first or will it attack your face, producing droopy eye lids and a sagging, jowly jaw line?

Think about this the next time you look at yourself in the mirror: When aging is apparent, what avenues will best serve you? Do painful injections around the eyes, lips and forehead entice you? Does it make sense to undergo a surgical procedure that promises you?ll look ten years younger? Can you imagine waking up from surgery and not recognizing yourself?

Many men and women are searching for that special something that will keep them looking younger; taking vitamins, eating organic foods, practicing regular exercise, twice-monthly facials, are the norm for most health conscious people but no matter how diligent they are with a health routine, their faces continue to show decline.

Aging faces are primarily a result of sagging muscles; just like in the body where we discover our hips sliding down the back of our legs or the muscles in our upper arm looking loose and jiggle-ly, facial muscles suffer the very same loss of tone and resiliency. Add sun damage to the mix and all of a sudden you have an old, tired face that needs attention.

If indeed sixty is the new forty we?re going to have to look long-term at avenues that are available to first stave off visible signs of aging and then correct the aging that has already become apparent. If you choose surgery, you choose risk. No matter how good the doctor, how qualified he is or where he practices; risks are present. Whether it?s loss of sensation, slow healing time, infection or getting a look you don?t necessarily care for, surgery, like injections is very temporary. Imagine spending $10,000 -$15,000 or more of disposable income and not liking the results or realizing that the aggravation and pain just wasn?t accurately disclosed. Fast forward five years: most likely your face is in need of a tune-up and that procedure is going to set you back more money and again, put your health and well-being at risk.

Many people are beginning to understand that surgery should be the last resort when they?ve decided they?ve ?had it? with a puffy, out of shape face, rather, they are opting for a safer and saner option. One that keeps them from spending loads of cash and doesn?t risk their lives. That choice? Facial exercise!

You may find it difficult to believe that exercise can actually give the user a fresh, younger look but it does! Just as resistance and isometric exercise provides strength and toning for the limbs and torso, facial exercise will keep the face from sagging by tightening the muscles that support the skin. Your face will become more youthful looking as tell-tale aging melts away.

How is this possible? Muscles in the face are small compared to our other muscles in the body; the facial muscles attach at only one end to bone, the other end inserts into another muscle. Facial muscles weave over and under other muscles so when sagging begins, the muscles drop down into other muscles causing wrinkles and a misshapen face - the look of aging!

Stop aging now with easy isometric exercise. No pain, no surgery and no expensive, risky procedure to keep you a slave to unnatural methods.

When dealing with the refurbishing of facial skin, peels are a popular option. Here is an overview of enzyme peels for your facial skin care needs.

An Overview of Enzyme Peels for Your Face

The enzyme peel is not a new technique at all. It has been performed for a long time ago but often without a deep knowledge on the matter. This is easily confirmed after an overview of those home remedies and cosmetics intended for skin care, such as papaya or green apple facemasks or lotions.

Papaya enzymes are not only good for nutrition but also to peel off epidermal cells, which aids in regenerating the skin. This property is also observed in aloe Vera, pumpkin, pineapple, and other fruits. Restorative enzyme peel is a type of exfoliating non-surgical procedure that uses natural or chemical products to produce exfoliation.

An Enzyme peel accelerates the natural exfoliate process of the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, promote young cell renewal, and visibly diminish scars, stretch marks, aging spots and lines, sun damage, and skin discoloration. Enzymes penetrate the upper layers of the tissue, cleansing pores and improving skin texture, tone, elasticity and tautness.

Although, some enzyme peels work with the aid of acids or mechanical granules, natural enzymes are the most recommended to prevent dryness or allergic reactions. In fact, some strong chemicals used for deep peeling, such as phenol, may cause cancer of the skin or side effects.

In order to obtain the most benefits from enzyme peels, whatever the product you choose or the natural home remedy, you can get the most from it by applying a thin layer to your clean and dry skin, rather than a thick coat. Enzymes work best by rubbing gently in a mild circular motion.

An Enzyme Peel produces results in the short term after begin the application, but you need to perform a routine exfoliation to see good results. Treatments with enzymes improve your skin look and feel, but do not stop aging. Furthermore, you will have to repeat a peeling treatment after a certain period of time to remove new damaged cells and keep your fresh and youthful appearance.

Botox

By Unknown

Botox injections are most widely known for their use in helping to remove lines in the face, particularly those that have developed between the brows. Many people, however, do not realize that Botox injections can also be used in therapy for certain neurological conditions and can also be helpful in preventing underarm sweat.

Reducing Facial Lines

Those wishing to get a Botox injection in order to decrease the signs of aging in their face will be glad to learn that the process takes only 10 minutes and is completely non-surgical. It takes only a few injections and results are seen within just a couple of days. To accomplish this phenomenon, Botox is injected directly into the muscle that is causing the lines to occur. Your doctor can determine which muscles are causing the lines by having you move the muscles in the area. This must be done on an individual basis because the size, location, and use of facial muscles vary from person to person.

When obtaining a Botox injection, it is not necessary to use anesthesia. The doctor may, however, numb the area with anesthetic cream or with a cold pack before making the injection. Since the procedure is so simple, you can resume normal activity after receiving the treatment. In fact, you can get a Botox injection on your lunch break from work.

When Botox is injected into the muscle, it blocks the transmission of nerve impulses. This causes the muscle to relax, which reduces or eliminates the appearance of lines. While the results do vary, most patients experience a more youthful appearance for up to four months after receiving an injection.

Neurological Conditions

In addition to being used for cosmetic purposes, Botox injections are FDA approved to treat neurological conditions such as blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, strabismus, and severe primary axillary hypderhidrosis.

Blepharospasm is a movement disorder that affects the muscles controlling the movement of the eyelids. Individuals suffering from the disorder blink frequently because of involuntary muscle spasms. Ultimately, it can lead to functional blindness because the patient is unable to open his or her eyes for a significant period of time. 75% of blepharospasm patients are female with the average age of onset being 56. Injecting Botox into the affected eye muscles relieves the spasms within just 48 hours.

Cervical dystonia involves involuntary contractions or spasms of the neck muscles, which can cause the head to tilt in any direction. The condition is generally quite painful and occurs in approximately 9 out of 100,000 people. Botox injections are used to block the nerve impulses causing the muscle hyperactivity. After treatment, which lasts for up to three months, the amount of head tilting is decreased.

Strabismus is a misalignment of the eyes where one or both eye turns in toward the nose (estropia) or one eye turns away from the nose (exotropia). It is also possible for one or both eyes to turn down or up in different directions. The disorder can occur suddenly or gradually. Botox injections can help lengthen one muscle and shorten the other in order to properly align the eyes. Typically, the results last for up to three months and can be repeated as often as necessary so long as the patient continues to respond to treatment.

Underarm Sweating

Severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, which is severe sweating in the underarms, is also treated with botox injections. Although it is normal for the body to sweat in order to cool itself down, patients with severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis sweat far more than necessary. The problem often goes undiagnosed and untreated because people are unaware of the disorder. For patients who are not responding to over-the-counter topical therapies, such as antiperspirants and aluminum chloride hexahydrate, they receive injections in the underarm area. These injections block the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands to produce sweat.

With its many uses, it is easy to see why Botox injections are so popular in the medical field. From helping people maintain a youthful appearance to treating serious medical problems, it is truly a versatile and useful drug.

If you suffer from a skin blemish then you already know that acne is a problem that plagues millions of consumers all over the world on a daily basis. The fact is the person that develops a way to prevent acne would become a very wealthy and extremely popular person. Individuals that suffer from zits, pimples, blackheads and other acne associated problems would pay a good bit of money for a cure. This is proven on an everyday basis judging by the amount of acne skin cleansers, solutions and exfoliation masks that are sold. Unfortunately no acne fighting solution is the Holy Grail to curing an outbreak 100% of the time.

Although there are many companies that offer herbal and natural remedies for acne the most popular treatments continue to remain ointments, lotions and soaps. The big question that needs to be answered is, do these products work?

The companies that manufacture these acne control products claim that their products do in fact work at eliminating acne outbreaks. In fact, you can easily find many testimonials from seemingly satisfied customers. Unfortunately, there is very little scientific data to support these heart-warming testimonials. A lack of a governing body to provide validity to these claims is unfortunate and the main cause of the problem. However, the absence of legislative oversight does not have to be a deciding factor in your usage of these products. You really must also consider whom you ask and what you believe when it comes to controlling skin blemishes and eliminating blackheads, zits and pimples.

There is no doubt that in ancient times, herbal and natural remedies were the only options that earlier civilizations had. These herbal and natural remedies were used for nearly every ailment they encountered. In fact, drugstores and neighborhood pharmacies, where you can find a remedy for any ailment you may have, are a very recent development.

Currently, many of us eat foods with processed ingredients, harsh pesticides and many other ingredients, which could potentially be dangerous. In earlier civilizations, these factors were not present. Although these individuals had shorter life spans and lived more difficult lives, scientific evidence has proven and made it clear that they were overall very healthy. Many people attribute this to the fact that they were eating much more natural food, which they raised themselves, and therefore absent of many if not all of the dangerous and harmful ingredients in our foods we currently include in our daily diets.

The best way to decide if herbal remedies and natural treatments are going to work for you is to research the issue. Determine which natural ingredients and herbs have been proven to be effective in fighting acne and then find products that use or incorporate these ingredients. Naturally, the best way to determine if they work is by using them for a trial period in order to see and measure the results yourself.

If you have been diagnosed with acne by a dermatologist, he or she may recommend an antibiotic, since bacteria are known to be a main cause of acne. You could ask your dermatologist if there are any natural products on the market that have been shown to reduce acne and if so what recommendation does he or she have. Echinacea, Witch Hazel and Tea Tree oil are three commonly used natural products that have been shown to fight bacteria and therefore help those suffering from acne, skin blemishes, zits, pimples and irritating blackheads.

There are many other natural products on the market, such as facial peels, clay masks and gentle abrasives. In order to find one that works you have to be willing and mentally prepared to read labels and do other research. If you are inclined and motivated to do this, you will be able to find plenty of natural products and herbal remedies for treating your acne.
